The Santa Cruz SPCA and the Girl Scouts of Monterey Bay are pleased to offer the Pet Care Badge awarded to Girl Scouts who complete classes and activities related to the responsibility involved in caring for domestic pets. We have collaborated to offer this badge because we believe that these skills need to be learned early on and will not only prepare Girl Scouts to one day care for an animals of their own but will also teach them about the role pets play in our society and how important our kindness, compassion, and choices are to our animals companions. The more we know about them the better they fit into our lives.
Junior Girl Scouts need to complete the six activities in the Pet Care Badge binder in order to earn the badge. For several of the activities there is more than way to complete the task, so make sure you read all of the requirements.
Junior Girl Scouts can earn the badge by completing the Program available at the council or by arranging a special presentation with the SPCA by contacting Brenna. Brownie Girl Scouts can also earn their ANIMALS try-it by contacting Brenna for a special troop presentation.
Good Luck to all scouts who wish to achieve the Pet Care Badge and thank you for your interest in these special animals!
